“The only ones willing to work 80 hours per week in order to avoid working 40”

“Entrepreneurs are the only ones willing to work 80 hours per week in order to avoid working 40.” ~ Lori Greiner

lori-greiner-quoteMy husband and I were watching Shark Tank one night and this is a direct quote from Lori Greiner that made me laugh.

I laughed because IT’S SO TRUE! For 5 years I worked 40 hours a week as a Paralegal. After my 5th year as a Paralegal, I gave myself an ultimatum: I told myself that in ONE YEAR I would build an online empire and step down from my 9-5 job. In order to make this happen (and allow myself a little more time) I dropped my hours at work from 40 to 30.

I would complain all.the.time about working 30-40 hours per week at my corporate job, but wouldn’t even roll my eyes at the thought of working on my “side hustle” through my lunch-break and every waking hour on the evenings and weekends.

It’s true that when you are doing something that you love each and every day, it doesn’t feel like work at all.

Now I spend my days chatting on the phone with beautiful ladies whenever and from wherever I choose!

I get to be home with my beautiful daughter. I get to create my schedule and block off play time, family time, and ME TIME. I don’t need to swipe a keycard to enter my office. I don’t need to race to my office in order to clock-in on time. I don’t need to enter billable hours at the end of the each month (oh boy, that was dreadful).

I work some weekends now, but only because I want to. It took a lot of grinding to get to where I am right now, but it was worth it to have 3-4 hour work-days now!

Entrepreneurs are workaholics. It is our nature. But it doesn’t feel like work to us if we are our own boss and setting our own rules! Ya hear me!!???
